EVENT PANELISTS
Kushagr Bakshi
Kushagr Bakshi joins Tulane Law as a Murphy Visiting Assistant Professor of Law. He is currently completing his S.J.D. at the University of Michigan Law School, where he also received his LLM. He holds a B.A. and LL.B. from the West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences.
Bakshi's research and scholarship focuses on constitutional law, comparative law, and international law. He is currently interested in theories of transformative constitutionalism and structural themes in constitutional law. His previous work has focused on Indian federalism, equal rights for gender and sexual minorities and statelessness and detention.
Stephen Griffin
Stephen Griffin teaches constitutional law, with interests in constitutional theory, history, and constitutional change, including formal and informal amendments and the “Constitution outside the courts.” He is the author of three books and more than 50 scholarly publications. Griffin joined Tulane Law School in 1989 and has served as Vice Dean of Academic Affairs and Interim Dean. He has received both the Sumter Marks Award for scholarship and the Felix Frankfurter Distinguished Teaching Award.
Dr. Scott Nolan
Scott N. Nolan is a Senior Professor of Practice in Tulane’s Department of Political Science, with an affiliate appointment in Gender & Sexuality Studies. His teaching focuses on courts, law, public policy, healthcare, identity politics, and research methods. A recipient of numerous teaching and mentoring awards, Nolan also serves as Faculty Chair of the NTC Honor Board and advises Pi Sigma Alpha, Tulane Mock Trial, and Phi Alpha Delta. His annual “Path to Law School” lecture series has helped hundreds of Tulane students gain admission and financial aid to top law schools.
Samuel Brandao
Sam Brandao is the Director of Tulane’s Civil Rights and Federal Practice Clinic, where he supervises civil rights litigation involving police violence and housing and employment discrimination. His research examines the intersection of civil rights law with artificial intelligence, emerging technologies, neuroscience, and end-of-life care. Before joining Tulane, he completed federal clerkships and a Skadden Fellowship at Southeast Louisiana Legal Services, where he litigated housing discrimination cases on behalf of people with disabilities.s.
